Slotervaart is known as the ‘green’ district. The green of the parks and recreational areas offer you a broad spectrum of opportunities for relaxation, sport activities and nature watching.
The 'Oeverlanden' is a nature and recreational area located on the north side of the 'Nieuwe Meer'.
The ‘Oeverlanden’ offers you the possibility to walk or cycle through beautiful nature, to sunbath and play on the beach or the sunbathing area, to play basketball and skate or even take the ferry-boat to the Amsterdam forest. The nature area is situated to the east of ‘Anderlechtlaan’, and the recreational area is situated between the ‘Anderlechtlaan’ and the ‘Ringvaart’ of ‘Haarlemmermeer’.

Drive to Anderlechtlaan and park your car there. You can go into the area by foot.

The Siegerpark is a beautiful park consisting of lakes in a peat bog area, with a collection of old, special trees. It is an ideal park for nature and art lovers.
The park has a special native and exotic vegetation, and currently houses several statues on loan by the ‘Stedelijk Museum'.
Siegerpark was laid out at the end of the thirties as a private idyllic spot and was later used as an experimental garden by the University of Amsterdam. The park is now property of the district Slotervaart and is part of the ecological structure in the district. The banks of the water areas in the park have recently been ecologically arranged and a large part of the green is naturally managed and cared for.
Siegerpark is located between the highway A4 and the living area ‘Nieuw Sloten'.

Sloterpark is the largest park of Amsterdam. It has a surface of 91 hectare and is situated around Sloterplas. The park offers possibilities for watersports such as sailing, surfing and canoeing, and inline skating.
On the Westside of Sloterplas, you will find Sloterparkbad. This is one of the largest swimming accommodations in the Netherlands. It contains many different pools, amongst which a recreational pool with a slide, rapids, bubblebaths, steam cabins, herbal baths and a solarium.

Rembrandtpark is a lovely place for a stroll and a breath of fresh air, but also for sport activities.
For the children, there is a children's farm and a play ground. Several spots in the park are ideal for a game of soccer. The northern part of the park, with several play- and sunbathing areas, is a beautiful recreational area in the summer time.
Rembrandtpark is located on the eastside of district Slotervaart, bordering district De Baarsjes. It can be reached by bike, by tram and by bus.

Slotervaart offers several walking- and biking routes through the green areas of the district. These routes can be bought or downloaded via the website of the district Slotervaart.
The treeroute
In cooperation with Amsterdam Nature and Environment Education center, district Slotervaart set up a series of 18 different tree routes through Amsterdam. This particular treeroute walks you through a part of district Slotervaart, informing you of the trees in de living areas, but also of special squares, parks and public gardens. You can pick up the brochure at the district office or download it from the website of district Slotervaart.
By bike or Vespa through Slotervaart
This route takes you past wellknown and maybe some less known green areas of Slotervaart. The route is approximately 20 kilometers long, following the route-marking signs. On the way you will find information panels, which tell you something about the location, its nature and its history. This biking route can be picked up at the district office, or downloaded from the website of district Slotervaart.
Allotment gardens by foot
Five gardenparks in the Southwest border of Amsterdam have written a walkingguide called: ‘Allotment gardens by foot'. This guide contains walks of the gardenparks ‘Ons Buiten, VAT, Eigen Hof, Lissabon, Oud Bijenpark en the Siegerpark. A connecting walking route takes you through the beautiful nature of ‘De Oeverlanden', the ‘Ringvaart', the ‘Sloterweg' and the different parks. You can compile the length of your route yourself.
