Anoniem Anno Nu I Pieter Jan Glerum

www.anoniemannonu.nl and
www.facebook.com/anoniemannonu
Disciplines: painting, photography and sculptures
Year of birth: 1987

Why Generation Y? "Pieter Jan Glerum is one of these rare multidisciplinary entrepreneurs that is aware of the 'Zeitgeist'. Nowadays, it is difficult to create and implement new cultural initiatives in a successful way. When you use social media to give shy and modest creative's a stage you are not only part of Generation Y, you also understand them. The artists of Anoniem Anno Nu have the opportunity in 'Generation Y?' to make the difference between 2D and 3D."

In 1987 Pieter Jan Glerum was born and subsequently raised in Amsterdam. After high school he studied in Groningen for four years. He went back to Amsterdam and started working in the world of e-commerce. The endless opportunities of the internet intrigue and inspire him greatly and Anoniem Anno Nu is created by this inspiration. He works full time as a process manager at PostNL E-commerce and during the evening he turns to Anoniem Anno Nu and other projects.
Anoniem Anno Nu is an online gallery that brings together different artists, buyers and art lovers. At the gallery a continuing changing art collection is presented. This collection is selected out of a range anonymous sent artworks by a large group of art lovers. This selection happens at their Facebook page: when an artwork receives many 'likes', the piece is included in the collection.

Unique cooperation with Dutch Design Hotel Artemis

Especially for the exhibition 'Generation Y?' Anoniem Anno Nu created a contest for artists on their Facebook page. According to the concept artists present their artwork anonymously. The artworks with the most 'likes' are invited to exhibit their pieces signed by their name in the Hipstamatic Project during the exhibition 'Generation Y?' in Dutch Design Hotel Artemis.

For the exhibition 'Generation Y?' we have marked you with the label Generation Y. What do you think about this?

I think that Anoniem Anno Nu and I both fit into category Generation Y quite well. Generation Y manifests itself through characteristics such as entrepreneurship and situational awareness.
The combination of these two aspects made me create Anoniem Anno Nu.

What are your work characteristics that are typical Generation Y?

Anoniem Anno Nu is primarily a Facebook community where artists can show their work anonymously and where other community members 'like' the artworks shown without knowing which artist made the artwork shown. Some members judge artworks very often, others do so occasionally. The artists that are best appreciated on the Facebook page are approached by Anoniem Anno Nu to see if there are opportunities to join an exhibition somewhere.
Anoniem Anno Nu also makes good use of the viral effect of Facebook and offers either professionals or amateurs the same opportunity to participate. It's all about accessibility, all one has to do is send an email with his or her artwork as an attachment and the rest is done for you.
This is the strength of Anoniem Anno Nu as an online concept and classifies it as typical Generation Y.
